Good morning, Directors:
I hope this message finds you all doing well. I am reaching out as co-chair of the EMAO Education Committee to invite you or a member of your staff to consider submitting a call for presentations for one of our upcoming conferences. These events bring together emergency management professionals from across the state, creating a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and learn from one another’s real-world experiences.
Having personally reviewed every presentation evaluation, one of the things our members consistently value most is hearing directly from their peers. There’s a unique level of credibility and practicality that comes from learning what has worked, and what hasn’t, from those doing the job every day. Whether it’s a creative solution to a local challenge, a lesson learned during a recent incident, or a program that has improved preparedness or response capabilities, these insights resonate deeply and often spark meaningful changes in other jurisdictions.
We encourage presentations that go beyond theory and highlight actionable takeaways. Attendees appreciate sessions that provide practical tools, candid reflections, and strategies they can adapt to their own communities. Even challenges or partial successes can be incredibly impactful when shared openly.
To help spark ideas, here are a few potential topic areas you might consider:
- After-action insights from recent incidents or activations
- Innovative approaches to community preparedness and public education
- Coordination with local partners, including fire, law enforcement, public health, and private sector
- Use of technology, data, or social media in emergency management
- Volunteer and resource management strategies
- Training and exercise design, including unique or low-cost approaches
- Continuity of operations planning and real-world implementation
- Lessons learned in disaster recovery and long-term resilience efforts
- Emerging threats or hazards impacting your jurisdiction
- Creative solutions to staffing, funding, or operational challenges
If your office has a story, strategy, or lesson worth sharing, we strongly encourage you to submit a proposal. Your experience could directly influence and improve emergency management practices across the state. If you have an idea for a presentation, please use this link for submission:

Respectfully,
